Frequently Asked Questions

Q:           What is the difference between Reblocking &Restumping?

Reblocking and Restumping are terms used interchangeably. Reblocking/Restumping involves jacking your house up, removing the old rotted wooden stumps and replacing them with the more durable concrete or steel stumps.

Q:           How do I know if my house needs restumping?

Common signs of structural instability are:

    • Sloping floors
    • Bouncy floors
    • Cracks in Plaster
    • Doors and Windows sticking or not functioning properly
    • Wooden Stumps rotted or decayed

Q:           I plan to renovate. When should I restump my house?

Restumping should be done before you renovate, so you have a level, secure foundation to build on.   If you don’t have your foundations strengthened before you renovate you take the risk of your new renovations and alterations being damaged during the re-levelling process.

Q:           How long does it take to restump a house?

This will depend on the size of the job, but the average weatherboard house would usually take around 4-7  working days.

Q:           Do I need to move out of my home while the restumping work is being carried out?

In most cases, the families remain in residence while we work. If our assessment indicates you will need to vacate the home we will advise you well before we commence.

Q:           Do I need to get Council Permits?

No – Diamond Foundations will arrange all Council Permits  and Building Inspections.

Q:           What materials do you use?

We use only top quality concrete and steel stumps, which are strong and durable, are immune to termites and won’t warp over time.  We also have sufficient Jacks to lift your house safely in a manner that will greatly minimise the possibility of damage occurring.

Q:           Do Diamond Foundations guarantee their work?

Yes, we confidently provide a 10 year guarantee on all our work and are very proud of our 100% safety record.

Q:           When and how do I make payment?
